Arthur Wallace is a television teleplay writer, story developer and producer who has contributed his talents to nearly forty different programs. He was the driving creative force behind the 1960s Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows, which was produced by Dan Curtis Productions from 1966 to 1971. Though he only actually wrote a small number of the episode scripts, he created most of the characters on the series, and crafted most of the major story-arcs. One of the recurring trends on Dark Shadows was that their plot threads were inspired by great works of Gothic literature such as The Taming of the Shrew, Wuthering Heights, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and even the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

In 1967, Art wrote the script for the "Labyrinth" episode of The Invaders. That same year, he wrote the "Obsession" episode of Star Trek as well as "Assignment: Earth" in 1968. In 1974, Art wrote the pilot episode of the Planet of the Apes television series, "Escape from Tomorrow". he also wrote episode 1x03, "The Gladiators". In 1976, he wrote the "Matter of Life and Death" episode of Space: 1999.
