Artesa Winery opened in 1997 and is located on a hilltop in the Carneros AVA area of Napa County. That same year, Artesa purchased a Sonoma Coast AVA property for $1.7 million. The property, which comprised 324-acres, was set to be developed into Pinot Noir vineyards, upon the removal of redwood trees .
As the vineyard proved its pedigree for still wines, the Artesa name was born in 1998. Catalan for “handcrafted”, Artesa has since become a leading producer of distinctive wines from the varietals for which Los Carneros and Napa Valley are best known: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
We named it Artesa. 150 acres. Over 50 blocks. Sustainably Farmed. Our Estate Vineyard is set in the steep foothills that straddle the Carneros and Mt. Veeder AVAs. An ideal mix of topography and a cool, coastal climate make our location among the most prized Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards in California.
