Askim, Sweden. Coordinates: 57°38′6″N 11°55′53″E. Askim ( Swedish pronunciation: [ˈâɧːɪm]) [1] is a district ( stadsdelsnämndsområde) of the Gothenburg Municipality in Sweden, about 10 km (6 mi) south-west of the city centre. To the northwest of Askim is Västra Frölunda, to the east is Mölndal, and the sea is to the west.
Askim has always been a strategic point in wars due to its relative easy crossing of the river. The last battle between Norway and Sweden was fought at the crossing over Glomma on 9 August 1814. There is a yearly historical reenactment, as well as a stone monument at Langnes to commemorate this event.

Askim Museum is owned and run by Askim Historical Society. The museum's buildings are positioned as they would have been on a medium-sized farm in Askim in the middle of the last century. Askimsbadet. Sweden is 'up north' and you don't think of it as a place of sunny beaches, but this is the closest you get to 'Playa del Sweden'. Clean beach and the water is not as cold as you expect (in July and August). Camping nearby and the city of Gothenburg is a 20min drive away (also good bus connections).
