As the district of Çankaya is itself on a hill , the tower can be spotted from almost anywhere in the city during clear days.

I remember when Atakule first opened in the 1980s, it was One of Ankara’s first malls and it had Ankara’s first Pizza Hut. Now, the newly renovated Atakule has nice marble floors, doormen dressed in red and several high end stores and several restaurants and more importantly a Starbucks.
