The $1.25 million gift in 2006 - the single largest one-time cash gift by a living donor to Rutgers Athletics at the time - gave the program a brand new state-of-the-art FieldTurf playing surface.

Gruninger Class of 1953 Baseball Complex, was renamed in the Bainton’s honor after the upgrade, and the Scarlet Knights’ baseball team has enjoyed a 60%+ win rate since that time.
