The Balboa Island Ferry, also known as the Balboa Ferry, Balboa Island Car Ferry, or Balboa Car Ferry, is a daily pedestrian and vehicle ferry service between the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California and Balboa Island. The Balboa Island Ferry has operated continuously since 1919. The trip across the bay is about a quarter of a mile and takes usually 10 minutes including boarding time. There are usually several ferry boats running back and forth to lessen the wait for a ride.
It was $4.50 for our van, two adults and 3 children. The ferry holds 3 vehicles, but you can get out and walk around. Make it quick though. It feels like a three minute ride. The island has a great vibe, amazing beach, beautiful homes, and plenty of luxury rides. The kids enjoyed the ferris wheel ($3 per rider).
