Barbara Ann Loden (July 8, 1932 – September 5, 1980) was an American actress and director of film and theater. [1] [2] Richard Brody of The New Yorker described Loden as the "female counterpart to John Cassavetes ".
Barbara Loden was a versatile and talented performer who starred in films by Elia Kazan and directed her own acclaimed Wanda (1970). She died of breast cancer at 48, leaving behind an unrealized project based on Kate Chopin's The Awakening.
