Basil Konstantine Poledouris ( / ˌpɒlɪˈdɔːrɪs /; August 21, 1945 – November 8, 2006) was an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of film and television scores, best known for his long-running collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven.
Born on August 21, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, Basil Poledouris learned the basic skills in many aspects of filmmaking at the University of Southern California. He became knowledgeable in directing, cinematography, sound, and editing. He also studied music under David Raksin.
