May 12—Truist Financial Corp. Dan Belk has been named market president for Berks County and surrounding areas by Truist Financial Corp. Belk has been in the financial services industry for nearly a decade, working various roles within the corporate and commercial banking segments. In the role of market president, Belk will deepen relationships with clients and prospects, executing on Truist's Business Lifecycle Advisory approach to identify clients' hopes, dreams and challenges. He will also provide care and tailored solutions to meet clients' goals. Belk is a graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he earned a finance degree. He completed his MBA at the University of Scranton, specializing in accounting. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 1 1/2 year old daughter as well as serving on community boards. Belk replaces Dave Roland, who is retiring after nearly four decades in the financial services industry. IM ABLE Foundation Alex A. Pilkington has been named chief executive officer of the IM ABLE Foundation, a non-profit organization based in the Mid-Atlantic region and dedicated to supporting the disability community. Pilkington has been promoted from the position of chief operating officer. Pilkington joined the IM ABLE Foundation in July 2021, taking charge of all business operations and assisting in the transition of CEO responsibilities from founder Chris Kaag. Kaag has since transitioned into the role of chief motivational officer at IM ABLE. Pilkington is a US Army veteran and proven leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a track record of transforming business enterprises in diverse environments. He brings the experience of more than 30 years of progressive leadership with experience in roles ranging from global Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, and as a serial entrepreneur. Prior to joining IM ABLE, Pilkington held numerous executive and operational leadership roles, most recently as a chief strategy officer for a start-up where he led operations, strategy, and growth. He earned his master's degree in management, strategy & leadership from Michigan State University, Eli Broad College of Business. Tower Health Tower Health Senior Vice President Pamela Hernandez was recently named as a Lehigh Valley Business Woman of Influence. The honorees are celebrated for their career accomplishments, professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to mentoring. Hernandez is a professional whose successful programs, such as second-chance employment and free English-language and Spanish-language classes for healthcare employees, are recognized throughout the region. Hernandez, who is also responsible for patient experience and community wellness services, said her professional interests include employee recruitment, retention, and engagement. She is also committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is helping to expand those efforts throughout Tower Health. She particularly wants to ensure the health system is reflective of the cultural experiences that make up the diverse employee population, while also providing quality care and understanding the cultural dynamics of our patient populations. In her two years with Tower Health, Hernandez has challenged her human resources team to maintain responsive communications with employees, update policies to be more employee friendly, and build additional career opportunities that can help both employees and community members excel. To address language barriers for employees and patients at Reading Hospital, Hernandez and her team partnered with community resources to develop free Spanish classes for healthcare employees and English as a Second Language classes for employees. In addition to improving overall communication, the classes are helping to make the employee and patient experience more positive, as well as expand opportunities for understanding and inclusion. Her teams have also developed the Tower Advanced Pay (TAP) program; revamped the annual employee evaluation system to provide for a more effective career discussion amongst the participants; enabled Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for managers across the system; worked collaboratively with the workforce on labor issues; and enhanced community health initiatives based on data from Tower Health's Community Health Needs Assessment and Social Determinants of Health surveys. Yerkes Michael Barbieri is celebrating 40 years of service with Yerkes. The company is also celebrating 150 years of service this year, and according to CEO Nick Cirilli, staying power for any company is built upon the service of "amazing, competent, caring, and dedicated professionals, and Mike fits the bill." A 1980 graduate of Downingtown High School, Barbieri earned an associate degree in land surveying in 1982 from Penn State University, before joining Yerkes in 1984. He progressively advanced from an instrument-man, to party-chief, to now, the company's director of surveying and projects. After 20 years of being a member of a traveling drag racing team, Barbieri now keeps busy with home improvement and repair projects in his spare time. After 10 years as a leader between Cub and Boy Scouts with son Kevin, Barbieri continued his community service. He was elected to the board, and is now president, of the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association in Robeson Township, which maintains the Historic Joanna Furnace Site. He has, for years, volunteered his time running events at this historical site. Barley Snyder Barley Snyder attorney Tasha Stoltzfus Nankerville has been admitted to practice in the state of Maryland. Nankerville, who was sworn into the bar during a virtual session in March, joins Barley Snyder attorneys Matthew Brushwood, Lindsey Cook, Derek Dissinger, Jeremy Frey, Paul Minnich, Martin Siegel and Justin Tomei who are also admitted to practice in the state of Maryland. Barley Snyder has remained committed to having more attorneys licensed to practice in Maryland in order to best serve clients located in or expanding into the state. The firm has two offices in Maryland, located in Columbia and Hunt Valley. Nankerville is a member of the firm's Litigation, Health Care, and Higher Education groups where she focuses her practice on civil litigation and medical malpractice. Outside the firm, she serves as a board member for Advoz: Mediation & Restorative Practices and Tenfold — two organizations focused on the betterment of the Lancaster community.
