Jul 12, 2017 · Bianca Maria Visconti was born on 31 March 1425 as the illegitimate daughter of Filippo Maria Visconti, Duke of Milan and Agnese del Maino. Her mother served as lady-in-waiting to Filippo’s wife, Beatrice di Tenda, who was tortured and executed on her husband’s orders before Bianca’s birth.
Bianca Maria Visconti was the only child of the duke of Milan, Filippo Maria Visconti, and his mistress Agnes del Maino. When she was about nine years old, Filippo betrothed her to his ally, the Italian noble Francesco Sforza, whom she married in 1441. Bianca had six children with Francesco.
Bianca Maria Visconti (1425–1468), Duchess of Milan, was the eldest daughter of Filipo Maria Visconti (d. 1447), Duke of Milan, who had no male heir. In 1441 the teenaged Bianca Maria was married to the famous general Francesco Sforza (1401–1466), a union that revitalized the Milanese Duchy.
