Alton Baker Park, Eugene’s largest developed park, is home to dozens of recreational features and facilities serving the City of Eugene since 1959. The park is made up of two major areas: the more developed West Alton Baker Park, and the 237-acre Whilamut Natural Area.
Water Alton Baker is located right on the banks of the Willamette River, and there are several boat launch areas. Combined with the free parking this can be a great place to start your fishing trip, or float on the river.

May 29, 2008 · If you are just looking for a short canoe trip, a popular feature is canoe canal. Canoe Canal begins just east of the I-5 corridor in Springfield, runs under the interstate and through the entire length of Alton Baker Park, and finally entering the Willamette River near the Ferry Street Bridge.
Among the facilities are a community garden, outdoor amphitheater, frisbee golf, science center, boat launch, events area. Trails range from paved to wood chip covered (for runners), shaded forest to prairie. Ponds and canals run through the park. There are usually many ducks and geese.
Get Directions. This large park is managed by the Eugene Parks and Open Space Division. The park has multiple amenties and is popular because of its proximity to the river, downtown Eugene, bike paths, and walking trails.
