Robert Oliver Fouts (December 19, 1921 – July 7, 2019) was an American sportscaster who was best known for his work as a play-by-play announcer for San Francisco 49ers football. Biography [ edit ] Bob worked with Lon Simmons on radio and television broadcasts for the 49ers in the 1950s.

Fouts is the father of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts, who now is a CBS analyst and a member of the Hall of Fame selection committee.
