The Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve and Wildlife Management Area is a 3,360-acre land managed by the Department of Natural Resources. Edisto Island’s Botany Bay preserves a stunning plantation landscape. The final section of the driving tour features the remains of the Sea Cloud Plantation house and a brick beehive built by slaves in the 1700s as a source of drinking water. Botany Bay is free and open to the public except on Tuesdays and during scheduled hunts.

The 4.000+ acre property boasts historical buildings, maritime forest, beach and fresh water ponds.
