Boyd Quakawoot is a South Sea Islander and a man of Indigenous descent from Mackay in North Queensland who identifies with the Yawibara people. Before becoming a fulltime screenwriter, Boyd worked for years as a social worker with at risk youth suffering from drug and alcohol dependency.

Biography. 'Boyd Quakawoot was born in Brisbane in 1971, to an Aboriginal and Australian South Sea Islander father and Scottish mother. He grew up and lives in Mackay, North Queensland and identifies with the Yawibara people of Mackay. The Song of Jessica Perkins is his first written work.
