Waldo Brian Donlevy (February 9, 1901 – April 6, 1972) was an American actor, who was noted for playing dangerous and tough characters. Usually appearing in supporting roles, among his best-known films are Beau Geste (1939), The Great McGinty (1940) and Wake Island (1942).

Apr 6, 1972 · HOLLYWOOD, April 5 (AP) —Brian Donlevy, who played tough guy roles in motion, pictures during most of his career, died of cancer tonight in the Motion Picture Hospital here. He was 69 years old.
Brian Donlevy was an Ulster-born American film actor who played tough guys in films from the 1930s to the 1960s. He was nominated for an Oscar for Beau Geste and appeared in many noir classics such as Kiss of Death and The Big Sleep.
