May 6, 2016 · A film inspired by a true phenomenon of 79 suicides by hanging in a Welsh town, Bridgend follows the lives of a group of teenagers who hang out, drink and jump into a pond. The film explores their rebellion, their rituals and their mystery, but its narrative is weak and its mystery is unexplored.
Bridgend is Rønde's fiction film debut. It is entirely shot on location in Wales, with many of the local teenagers casted as actors. Against the backdrop of a mysterious, blood-chilling spate of suicides, grieving police officer Dave and his teenage daughter Sara arrive in the Welsh former coal-mining community in Bridgend County.
