Buck Taylor is an American actor and painter, best known for his performance as ‘Newly O’Brien’ in the long-running ‘CBS’ TV series ‘Gunsmoke.’ Taylor grew up on movie sets, watching his father, a famous Hollywood actor, work with stalwarts such as John Wayne, Tex Ritter, and ‘Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.’
Buck Taylor once said in the late 2000s, “Good guys win, and bad guys lose” (Taylor Buck. Personal interview. 01 October 2021). His entire life changed once he began to paint, he was a great believer in Jesus, and his belief has made an emotional impact in his life. Therefore, he asked God, “how do I start and guide me.”
Walter Clarence "Buck" Taylor III (born May 13, 1938) is the actor who played gunsmith-turned-deputy Newly O'Brien in seasons 13-20 of Gunsmoke. An American actor and artist, reprised his role as Newly (now the U.S. Marshal in Dodge City) in the CBS television move Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge.
Biography. Walter Clarence "Buck" Taylor, III (born May 13, 1938) is an American actor and water color artist best known for his role as gunsmith-turned-deputy Newly O'Brien in 113 episodes during the last eight seasons of CBS's Gunsmoke television series (1967–1975).
Dec 2, 2011 · Taylor’s own art, predominately watercolors, isn’t just about rodeos. He does historic works—buffalo, cattle, cowboys, trains, stagecoaches, outlaws, even ranch buildings—but finds great pleasure in creating posters. “Doing a poster is more design than a regular painting,” he says.
