Carl Michael Ziehrer (more rarely spelled Karl Michael Ziehrer) (2 May 1843 – 14 November 1922) was an Austrian composer. In his lifetime, he was one of the fiercest rivals of the Strauss family; most notably Johann Strauss II and Eduard Strauss .

Carl Michael Ziehrer. The conductor of the "Deutschmeister", creator of a lot of operettas and last k. u. k. court ball chief conductor, was born on the 2nd May, 1843 in Vienna and has passed away there on the 14th November, 1922. Ziehrer was a follower of Simon Sechter.
