- SCTV (1976-1984) Just 20 years old at the time, O'Hara got her first big break in 1974 when she was hired as an understudy for Gilda Radner at Toronto's sketch comedy theatre troupe The Second City.
- After Hours (1985) Just after SCTV ended, O'Hara got her cinematic feet wet with an impressive one-two punch, landing roles in films by inarguably legendary directors Martin Scorsese and Mike Nichols.
