In 1984, Charing Cross Hospital Medical School and Westminster Hospital Medical School merged to form the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. This move was part of a series of mergers in the London medical schools in the early 1980s, which foreshadowed the second, larger round of mergers in the late 1990s.

During the Second World War the Medical School was evacuated to Chaulden House, Boxmoor, and returned to Charing Cross in 1947. A new hospital was opened in 1973 on Fulham Palace Road, on the site of the old Fulham Hospital, with accommodation for the Medical School. A new medical school building, the Reynolds Building, was opened in 1976.
1953. Instruction began at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in 1834 and at Westminster Hospital Medical School in 1849. The schools merged in August 1984, forming Charing Cross & Westminster Medical Schools. The Charing Cross and Westminster Medical Schools became part of the Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine in August 1997.
