Chester Cooper Conklin (January 11, 1886 – October 11, 1971) [1] was an early American film comedian who started at Keystone Studios as one of Mack Sennett ’s Keystone Cops, often paired with Mack Swain. He appeared in a series of films with Mabel Normand and worked closely with Charlie Chaplin, both in silent and sound films.
Chester Conklin was a comedian and actor who worked in vaudeville, circus, and film. He was known for his "walrus" mustache and his roles in Chaplin, Sennett, and Fox shorts.

Conklin took a clown's job in the circus, and in the winter of 1912, while the circus was quartered in Venice, he applied for work with Mack Sennett. His mustache, a radical departure from the spike mustaches worn by most comedians of the day, was an instant laugh getter and he was paid $3 a day to start.
