As the capital and largest city of Wyoming, Cheyenne is renowned for its deep-rooted western heritage, proudly showcased through events like the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days, a world-famous rodeo and western celebration held annually since 1897.
Cheyenne is at the crossroads of Interstates 80 and 25 in southeastern Wyoming, about 40 miles west of the Nebraska border, 180 miles south of Casper, 50 miles east of Laramie, and 8 miles north of the Colorado border. Cheyenne is 90 miles directly north of Denver.
Cheyenne is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Wyoming, as well as the county seat of Laramie County, with 65,132 residents, per the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Cheyenne metropolitan statistical area which encompasses all of Laramie County and had 100,512 residents as of the 2020 census.
