Dec 26, 2019 · An okay kitschy kind of Made-for-Television movie takes a very serious social problem & wraps it around a sentimental Christmas story. The plight of the coal miner & their union in the early 1950’s was heightend by several major coal mine disasters & the problem of labor unionizing against the corporate greed of the owners created a dangerous conflict.
Originally broadcast as "Christmas Miracle in Caufield, U. S. A." on Dec 26 1977, "The Christmas Coal Mine Miracle" is set in a small 1950 community (shooting on location in Roundup, Montana) owned by powerful miser Caufield (Don Porter), who refuses to assuage the fears of his workers by shutting down the mine for safety precautions.
