Claudia Verhoeven is a historian of modern Russia and Europe whose primary research interest is the history of terrorism and related forms of political violence. Her first book, The Odd Man Karakozov: Imperial Russia, Modernity, and the Birth of Terrorism, is a micro-history of the 1866 attempted assassination of Tsar Alexander II.
