Simeiz Observatory (also spelled Simeis or Simeïs) was an astronomy research observatory until the mid-1950s. General information. Crimean Astrophysical Observatory RAS (CrAO RAS) was founded in 1945 as an institution of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the basis of the Simeiz Branch of the Pulkovo Observatory established in 1908.
