Feb 3, 2023 · The city of Crockett is the seat of Houston County, Texas. Despite being a relatively small city, Crockett brims with a rich history. It’s the fifth-oldest city in Texas, while Houston County itself is the state’s oldest county. The town got its name from the folk hero and frontiersman Davy Crockett. He had made camp nearby on his way to the Alamo.
Crockett is the county seat of Houston County, the first county established in the Republic of Texas on June 12, 1837. The town was incorporated on December 29, 1837, and a post office opened there on March 31, 1838. The town was named after David Crockett, who is said to have camped at a nearby spring in 1836 on his way to defend the Alamo.

Jasmine Felicia Crockett (born March 29, 1981) is an American lawyer and politician who is the U.S. representative from Texas's 30th congressional district since 2023. Her district covers most of South Dallas County, central Dallas, Dallas Love Field Airport and parts of Tarrant County.
