Cuauhtemoc was the last emperor Aztec Emperor who ruled from 1520 to 1521. Born to Ahuitzotl and Tlilancapatl, he was the cousin of late Emperor Moctezuma II. Since an early age, Cuauhtemoc’s aggressiveness and determination was famous, his name itself means ‘a person who has descended like an eagle’.
Cuauhtémoc (c. 1495-1525) was the last emperor of the Aztec city-state of Tenochtitlan, ruling from 1520 to 1521. Only 25 years old when he came to power, he was immediately thrust into a desperate defense of the city against the invading Spanish conquistadors.
Cuauhtémoc (also known as Cuauhtemotzin or Guatimozin; c. 1502 – February 28, 1525) was the last Aztec ruler (Tlatoani) of Tenochtitlán and the last "Aztec emperor." The name means "descending eagle," from Nahuatl cuauhtli (eagle) and temoc (descent); by extension it can be interpreted as "setting sun."
