Daniel Jason Heffner (born March 30, 1956) is a producer known for his work on the Saw franchise.
He was a co-producer of Saw and Saw II and an executive producer of Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw 3D, Jigsaw, and Spiral.
Daniel Jason Heffner was born in New York City on March 30, 1956. He attended Ithaca College School of Communications and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications in 1978. Upon graduating, Heffner worked as a stage manager and production assistant on the Academy Award-winning film Kramer vs. Kramer and as a research assistant to Milos Forman on Ragtime.
In January 1980, Heffner moved to Los Angeles and joined the Directors Guild of America as a Second Assistant Director. He has worked on such films as Personal Best, the Academy Award-winning An Officer and a Gentleman, Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip, and the critically acclaimed The Big Chill.
Heffner's executive career began in August 1985, when he was selected as the first production executive for the newly restructured film division of the Walt Disney Studios. In this capacity, he was instrumental in rebuilding the studio's feature production division and served on the New Technologies and Facilities Expansion committees. As a production executive, Heffner oversaw the production of numerous projects.
During his tenure at Disney, Heffner served as the line producer of Cocktail, directed by Roger Donaldson, and The Good Mother, directed by Leonard Nimoy. Heffner also served as the First Assistant Director of this film. In 1988, Heffner created and operated the Buena Vista Pictures Production Division. This division started with five employees in 1988 and grew to over 35 by late 1991. He was responsible for producing over 25 movies during this period, including the highly successful Ernest series.
