Suits LA, the Los Angeles-set spin-off series to the popular legal drama from Aaron Korsh, is scheduled to enter production in March after scoring a pilot order at NBCUniversal.
As reported by Variety, Suits is officially back in business after its LA spin-off got picked up for a pilot order by NBC, with cameras set to start rolling in late March in Vancouver. Victoria Mahoney is attached to direct the episode, which, should it go to series, would likely debut sometime in the 2024-25 television season.
Suits: LA is said to have the "same energy and good-looking people" as the original series, but there are no casting details yet, not even for its lead character, Ted Black. All we know about him is that he is a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself representing powerful clients in Los Angeles.
"His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career," reads the logline. "Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can't help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved."
Suits debuted in 2011 on USA Network and ran for nine seasons until 2019. The show experienced a huge surge in popularity last year after the first eight seasons were added to Netflix, breaking streaming records as people tuned in to see college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) talk his way into a New York law firm.
Korsh is writing the new iteration and will executive produce alongside Dave Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, who all worked on the original series. Director Mahoney is also executive producing the pilot.
