Rupel served as a breakdown writer for General Hospital from 1999 to 2001. Following a period at Guiding Light, he briefly returned to General Hospital in 2012 and again from 2016 to 2017. In 2020, he rejoined the GH team as a staff writer. He has also been an executive producer for Bravo's
