Defender is the thirteenth album and tenth studio album by Irish musician Rory Gallagher. Coming after a five-year hiatus from the recording studio, it was his first album released on the Capo label. The song "Continental Op" was inspired by the nameless fictional detective created by Dashiell Hammett, and was dedicated to Hammett.

Nov 19, 2020 · Defender is definitely not his best effort but even a middle of the road recording by Rory Gallagher is worth listening to, often. This disc is still very bluesy but the usual energy is missing but and this is a big but, the majesty of his guitar is still allover this record including the two terrific bonus tracks.
