State Highway 9, U.S. Highway 77, and Interstate 35 give the community transportation access. In the 1990s Norman overtook Lawton to become Oklahoma's third largest city, behind Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
In September, 2018 I bought a 1943 Boeing Stearman biplane, model N2S-3. Through U.S. Navy archives I was delighted to learn that it was assigned to NAS Norman in 1943-45. While there it provided primary flight training to a cadre of Naval Aviator Cadets. Although I now live in Illinois I grew up in Oklahoma.
