[1] The film, which was directed by Guy Green, is about a patrol of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) during the North African Campaign in the Second World War. It was shot on location in the Kingdom of Libya.

Thing quickly hit a snag when they have a run in with a German armoured car. The duel results in the destruction of the German vehicle, but also the loss of one of the raiding trucks and several men killed. Evading further patrols and enemy aircraft, the remaining trucks come up on the supply dump.
