Brief Synopsis. Television movie featuring the character Dr. Mark Sloan of the CBS series "Diagnosis Murder." While traveling to Los Angeles from her home in Las Vegas with her husband, a panicked Carol Sloan, Mark's daughter, places a phone call to her father from Los Rios asking for help. Mark makes the most pain.

An old girlfriend of Sloan's, Rachael Walters ( Suzanne Pleshette ), returns to the hospital to operate on a U.S. Senator. She deliberately infects the Senator with a staph infection, leading to his death. Mark suspects Rachael in the Senator's death, and decides to investigate his old flame. Guest stars: Christina Pickles, and Ken Lerner.

I'm a big fan of Diagnosis Murder, and I've seen most of the episodes, but I've had much difficulty locating the first of the two post-series movies, Town Without Pity, which was largely filmed in Piru, where in fact serves as the location for many movies and TV series. Dick Van Dyke returned to the role of crime-solving medico Dr. Mark Sloan who, at the beginning of the story, is basking in the glow of his daughter Carol's (Stacy Van Dyke) marriage to Arabian-American Anton (Fahan Tahir).
