Plot. Dive Bomber. Summaries. A military surgeon teams with a ranking Navy flyer to develop a high-altitude suit which will protect pilots from blacking out when they go into a steep dive. Dive Bomber is a 1941 American aviation film from Warner Bros. Pictures, directed by Michael Curtiz, and starring Errol Flynn and Fred MacMurray. The film is notable for both its Technicolor photography of pre-World War II United States Navy aircraft and as a historical document of the U.S. in 1941.
"Dive Bomber" stars Flynn as Lieutenant Dr. Doug Lee, Medical Corps, in the United States Navy. At the beginning of the film, in Hawaii, during a flight, a pilot passes out and crashes due to altitude sickness. Lieutenant Joe Blake (Fred MacMurray), a fellow pilot and friend of the victim, is concerned that his friend is going to die.
