Some arabic letters or sounds do not exist in Latin derived languages. This can be done via mixing 2 letters to produce a sound ( such as "Kh" or "Aa"), but it can also more efficient to produce these same sounds using numbers ( Kh = 5, Aa = 3 ). The numbers we use also look very similar to the letters they represent in the Arabic language.
