Don't Come Knocking is a 2005 American Western film directed by German director Wim Wenders and written by Wenders and actor/playwright Sam Shepard. The two had previously collaborated on the film Paris, Texas (1984). It was entered into the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
"Don't Come Knocking" is a curious film about a movie cowboy who walks off the set, goes seeking his past, and finds something that looks a lot more like a movie than the one he was making. There are scenes that don't even pretend to work.
Washed-up movie star Howard Spence (Sam Shepard) spends his days drowning his sorrows in an endless stream of drugs and alcohol, but news that he may have fathered a child offers him a ray of hope....
