- 1:48Trump, Harris campaign ahead of Tuesday's debateReuters VideosSTORY: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on Saturday, as he tries to solidify support among a key part of his base: working-class and rural whites. [TRUMP] "A very special hello to Wisconsin, we really appreciate it. We've had great success here." Trump won Wisconsin, a key swing state, against Hillary Clinton in 2016, but lost it to President Joe Biden in 2020. But he carried Marathon County, where Mosinee is located, convincingly in both elections. Whites without a college degree, long the linchpin of Trump's coalition, still favor the former president by 25 points, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll. Maintaining Trump's margins within that demographic is crucial, his advisers say, in order for him to win in November against his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris - who is leading Trump among Hispanic and Black voters. Harris, meanwhile, was in Pittsburgh on Saturday, where she welcomed recent endorsements not only from former Republican representative Liz Cheney, but also from her father Dick Cheney, who was Vice President under Republican President George W. Bush. [HARRIS] "I think what they both as leaders, who are leaders that are well respected are making an important statement that it is ok and is important to put country above party and I'm honored to have their support." Harris and Trump will debate each other for the first time in Pittsburgh, with Pennsylvania another key battleground state. [REPORTER TO HARRIS] "Are you ready to face Donald Trump?" [HARRIS] "Yes, I am. Yes."12 hours ago

It's a witch hunt. It's a an attack by my political opponents in Washington, D.C..And comrade Kamala Harris and radical left opponents for purposes of election interference. That's all that was.” “Over the past four years, Kamala Harris and the radical Democrat Party have led a war on law enforcement in America. They're against you so strongly. As a result, families that do everything right and carry this country on their shoulders have watched helplessly as their communities dissolved all around them.” The New York judge in former President Donald Trump's hush money trial delayed his sentencing until after the Nov. 5 election, now planned for Nov. 26, unless the case is dismissed before then. Trump’s lawyers had pushed for delaying the sentencing citing "naked election-interference objectives.” Trump also mocked Harris for her debate preparation, claiming she was struggling to focus due to MAGA supporters outside her quarters. Speaking on migration, Trump blamed Harris and the "radical" Democrat Party for a "crime wave" and a "nation-wrecking border invasion," promising to put a an end to these crises if re-elected to the White House. "As soon as I'm back in the White House, the conquest will end and the great liberation of America will begin," said Trump finalizing his speech.1 day ago

- 1:58Trump proposes role for Elon Musk on an 'efficiency commission'Reuters VideosSTORY: Donald Trump says he would tap Elon Musk to serve in his administration if he wins November's US presidential election. Trump said Thursday he'd make good on Elon's offer to serve under him - by putting him charge of an efficiency task force. "I will create a Government Efficiency Commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government and making recommendations for drastic reforms. We need to do it - can't go on the way we are now. And Elon, because he's not very busy, has agreed to head that task force. It would be interesting." It was part of a wide-ranging speech where Trump laid out his economic vision - -he also pledged to slash corporate tax rates for companies that manufacture domestically- -establish "low-tax" zones on federal lands to encourage construction companies to build new homes -and start a sovereign wealth fund. He says the commission would work to eliminate 'fraud and improper payments' within six months but did not provide details on how it would operate. Musk has already responded to Trump saying on X he's eager to serve America if given the chance, and that, quote, "No pay, no title, no recognition is needed." The Tesla CEO mentioned in an August 19 podcast that he had discussed the commission with Trump and was interested in joining it. Sources told Reuters Trump has been discussing the efficiency commission idea with aides for weeks. American politicians have called for similar entities before; Republican President Ronald Reagan established the Grace Commission during his presidency. But Trump’s proposal drew fire from Everett Kelley, president of the American Federation of Government Employees - a union that represents 750,000 federal workers. He accuses Trump and Musk of wanting to gut the nonpartisan civil service and replace fired workers with allies.2 days ago
