Pablo Picasso (1935–1943) Henriette Theodora Markovitch (22 November 1907 – 16 July 1997), known as Dora Maar, was a French photographer, painter, and poet. [2] A romantic partner of Pablo Picasso, Maar was depicted in a number of Picasso's paintings, including his Portrait of Dora Maar and Dora Maar au Chat.

- She was a successful painter and photographer. Born Henriette Theodora Markovitch in 1907, the artist was raised between Argentina and France. Educated, well-travelled and supported by her family, Maar was able to pursue a career in the arts.
- She challenged the idea of the 'modern woman' In 1931, she opened a photographic studio with set designer Pierre Kéfer under the name ‘Kéfer -Dora Maar’.
