Biography. Doris Egan grew up in New Jersey and attended Barnard College in New York City. She sold her first short story, “Timerider,” to Amazing Stories magazine while working in computer support on Wall Street. Doris Egan was on the writing staffs of Profiler and Early Edition, and wrote an episode of So Weird. She started her career as a novelist and short story writer, and is the author of the Ivory series (The Gate of Ivory, Two Bit Heroes, and Guilt-Edged Ivory), which straddled the line between science fiction and fantasy.
