Urbanski received an Academy Award nomination for Mank as producer, and was also nominated by the Producers Guild of America for The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. He is an executive producer on the Apple TV+ series, Slow Horses, based upon the spy novels of Mick Herron, which also stars Gary Oldman.
Douglas Urbanski's theatre career began as a student in the Drama Department at New York University during the late 1970s. During this time the most remarkable faculty for theatre ever assembled were his teachers; they included Stella Adler, Harold Clurman, Lee Strasberg, and Nikos Psacharopoulos.
