Drongen Abbey, or the Old Abbey, Drongen (Dutch: Abdij van Drongen, Oude Abdij van Drongen), is a monastic complex on the River Leie in Drongen, a part of the city of Ghent in East Flanders, Belgium. Formerly a Premonstratensian abbey , since 1837 the premises have belonged to the Jesuits .

Oct 20, 2021 · The Old Abbey in the Flemish town of Drongen is a large complex founded by the Norbertines. The Jesuits acquired the building in 1836. For a long time it served as a novitiate, as well as a retreat centre offering the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius.
Drongen was tot 1977 een zelfstandige gemeente met drie parochiale kernen: Drongendorp, Luchteren-Campagne en Baarle. Centrum van Drongen. Het centrum van Drongen is ontstaan toen norbertijnen er in de 7de eeuw de abdij stichtten. De abdij en de Drongenaren ondergingen vele plunderingen en verwoestingen.
