Edward IV (April 28, 1442 – April 9, 1483) was King of England from March 4, 1461, to April 9, 1483, with a break of a few months in the period 1470–1471. Edward IV's memory is most closely linked with the Wars of the Roses between the house of York, to which he belonged, and the house of Lancaster, to which Henry VI belonged.

May 17, 2018 · Edward IV (1442–83), king of England (1461–70, 1471–83). The tall and handsome ‘Rose of Rouen’, so nicknamed because he was born in that city, the eldest son of Richard, duke of York, and Cecily Neville, gained the throne of England in March 1461 when he was only 18.
Jan 12, 2022 · Edward IV was the first Yorkist king, and, after Henry V, the most successful 15th century king of England. After his father and younger brother Edmund were killed at Wakefield in 1460, Edward took up the standard of the Yorkist cause with a vengeance.
