Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham KG (3 February 1478 – 17 May 1521) was an English nobleman. He was the son of Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, and Katherine Woodville, and nephew of Elizabeth Woodville and King Edward IV. Thus, Edward Stafford was a first cousin once removed of King Henry VIII.

Edward Stafford, 3rd duke of Buckingham (born Feb. 3, 1478, Brecknock Castle, Brecon, Brecknockshire, Wales—died May 17, 1521, London, Eng.) was the eldest son of Henry Stafford, the 2nd duke, succeeding to the title in 1485, after the attainder had been removed, two years after the execution of his father.

Jan 26, 2017 · On the 17th May 1521, Edward Stafford was led to Tower Hill where he was beheaded. Gasparo Contarini summarises the Duke’s death: This morning the late Duke of Buckingham was taken “in forza de' brazi” from the Tower to the scaffold, at the usual place of execution, with a guard of 500 infantry.
Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham, was one of Henry VII's and Henry VIII's main associates in court. He attended the coronation of both kings and played an important part in each of their reigns. But how he ended up in that position of favour is a fascinating story, as is his eventual demise.
