Edward of Middleham, Prince of Wales (c. December 1473 or 1476 – 9 April 1484), was the son and heir apparent of King Richard III of England by his wife Anne Neville. He was Richard's only legitimate child and died aged seven or ten.
Little is known about Edward's life prior to his father's accession to the throne in the summer of 1483. He was appointed nominal Lord Lieutenant of Ireland on 19th July and created Earl of Cornwall on 26 June 1483, his father later created him Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester, the traditional titles given to the monarch's eldest son and heir, in a lavish ceremony at York on 24 August 1483.
Edward of Middleham, Prince of Wales was the only known legitimate child of Richard III and Anne Neville. He was born in Middleham probably some time between early 1473 (after his parents received the final dispensation for their marriage, about April 1472) and probably lived there all his life.
