Elena Garro (December 11, 1916 – August 22, 1998) was a Mexican screenwriter, journalist, dramaturg, short story writer, and novelist. She has been described as the initiator of the Magical Realism movement, though she rejected this affiliation. [1] She is a recipient of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize .

Elena Garro (b. 11 December 1920; d. 22 August 1998), Mexican novelist, short-story writer, and playwright. Although Garro spent much of her adult life in Spain and France, her writing reflects Mexican society, which she views pessimistically.
Elena Garro was a Mexican writer and theatre director, known for her novel Recollections of Things to Come. She faced persecution and exile for her political views and her alleged involvement in the Tlatelolco Massacre.
