GENERAL INFORMATION. Our 100 year-old Natural History and Anthropology Museum is located within the beautiful 108 acre Lords Park, located on Elgin’s east side. Museum Admission: $2 Adult, $1 Children 3 to 12, Free Children under 3 and EPM Members. Museum Hours: Saturday 12:00-4:00 PM.
In beautiful Lord's Park, this museum features over 15,000 specimens of natural history with newly expanded family focused hands-on exhibits. Built in 1907, the Elgin Public Museum is the only natural history museum in the Fox Valley area.
New exhibits included Exploring the Waterways: The LaSalle Expedition, Nature of Elgin and a hands-on Children’s Discovery Room. The Museum Store was expanded as well. The Elgin Public Museum is now the oldest building in Illinois built expressly as a museum that is still serving that purpose.
