Emily Griffith Opportunity School radio repair class. During the 1976 celebration of Colorado's 100th anniversary, a stained glass portrait of Emily Griffith was hung in the State Capitol in Denver. It can still be seen today. In 1985, Emily became a member of the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame.

Emily Griffith (1868–1947) was a visionary educator in the field of adult, vocational, and alternative education. After working as a teacher and administrator in Denver, she started the Denver Opportunity School in 1916, premised on the idea that education should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, race, or gender.
