February 18, 1971. The Erie Canal Museum is a historical museum about the Erie Canal located in Syracuse, New York. The museum was founded in 1962 and is a private, non-profit corporation. [3] It is housed in the Syracuse Weighlock Building dating from 1850.

Jul 30, 2019 · The Erie Canal Museum offers a fascinating look at the history of the canal, its impact on the state, and what life was like for those that lived and worked along it. Just inside the entrance, the first floor displays do a great job of highlighting the history of the canal.
The Erie Canal Museum Is open Monday through Saturday from 10am – 5 pm and Sunday from 10am through 3 pm. Check out their web site for news and information on current events happening at the Museum. Admission to the Museum is by donation. A suggested donation is $5.00 and is greatly appreciated.
