    In 816, Pope Hadrian I crowned her husband Emperor of the West, and therefore crowned her Empress of the West1. The coronation took place in Reims cathedral1.

    Ermengarde married Louis in 7942. She was his first wife1, so her sons inherited most of the titles. Together they had six children1: 1. Lothaire, who became Emperor Lothaire I. 2. Pepin, who became King of Aquitaine. 3. Hrotrud 4. Berta 5. Hildegarde, who married Gerard, Count of Auvergne. 6. Louis, who became King of the East Franks.

    She died on 03 October 818, in Angers1, France. She died 3 days after falling ill1, but I don’t know what she suffered from. They buried her in Angers1, but I don’t know where her resting place is.
